Help us make our product vision a reality: To empower everyone to innovate by enabling a data-driven approach to innovation management.

In the past year, we have been working to get our data pipeline up and running, ingesting and enriching online data including news, patents and scientific publications relevant to our customer base, as well as building a knowledge graph. We are now looking to expand the initiative and grow our data team with the goal to seamlessly integrate smart functionality into our existing software solution. The focus is on getting the right information to the right users to help them research, plan and innovate – be it through content recommendations, intuitive search, or identification of emerging topics within our data lake.

As the team is currently still small, we are looking for somebody who is self-motivated and can meet a challenge head-on. We offer a great degree of conceptual freedom that will allow you to shape the direction of our data initiative, and see first hand the impact your work has on the product and our users’ success.

OBJECTIVES O F THE ROLE

• Help drive the data and machine learning initiative at ITONICS.
• Define next steps to enable our customers to turn data into insights, closely collaborating with the product and engineering teams.
• Contribute to researching and defining what tooling to use for data science and machine learning tasks.
• Keep current with technical and industry developments.
• Communicate with different stakeholders to acquire insights and share findings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Come up with strategies to measure success of smart features, as well as processes to analyze model performance, and improve & monitor data quality over time.
• Execute analytical experiments methodically to find patterns, validate research and produce machine learning models – always keeping a clear objective in mind.
• Help identify relevant data sources and integrate new datasets that we can leverage to improve result quality and create new product features.
• Guide the implementation of models and prototypes into production by collaborating with the engineering team.

• Several years of professional experience as a data scientist.
• Ability to empathize with users and their product needs and wishes.
• Demonstrated ability to take product goals or customer needs, and translate them into a goal set and action plan.
• Self-motivated and interested in taking ownership of initiatives from conception to implementation.
• Goal oriented, impact-driven and practical: Ability to work with what’s available, find creative solutions, and to define what is still needed in order to reach goals and deliver value.
• A deep understanding of statistics and machine learning in general, as well as natural language processing, knowledge graphs and recommender systems in particular.
• Very good understanding of data structures, and experience with SQL and noSQL databases.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as Python or R for experimentation and prototyping, and practical experience with machine learning frameworks like Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras or Scikit-learn.
• Clear communication of findings, progress and expectations towards product, engineering, and other stakeholders.
• Very good command of English.

NICE TO HAVE

• Degree in statistics, applied mathematics, machine learning, or related discipline.
• Knowledge of software development best practices such as version control and testing.
• Experience with AWS tooling for data science and machine learning.
