DevOps Engineer – Flight Controls (m/f/d)

We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopter (www.volocopter.com).

As DevOps Engineer in the flight controls team you will support and enable the development of software that runs on a real urban air mobility solution: the Volocopter. You will build and maintain critical infrastructure that automates processes to ensure safe and reliable software—software that will literally take off in front of you.

Your Role

You are both a resourceful software engineer as well as an experienced IT system administrator. You are the main enabler for achieving a high development pace while maintaining a high-quality result. Using your solutions, your colleagues in the flight control team can rest assured that safety checks, tests and analysis tools run automatically on every code change, giving them high confidence in correctness and immediate feedback in case of potential issues.

• Experience with administration of Unix and Windows systems
• Excellent scripting skills in languages such as Python and Bash
• Experience with software configuration management tools, ideally Git
• Experience with servers, network environments, security, performance monitoring, storage concepts, and cloud-based services is desired
• Experience with configuration and administration of continuous integration systems, such as Jenkins is a big plus
• Experience with embedded C development is a plus
• Experience with GitHub/GitLab (or similar platforms) is a plus
• Structured way of working, high sense of responsibility and accountability
• Safety and ethical engineering-oriented spirit
• Experience in an aerospace development environment (e.g. DO-178B/C) is a plus
