As the newly formed Hardware department within the CARIAD R&D organization we are heading the development of a cross-domain HW/SW platform for the entire Volkswagen group to shorten the cycle time of automotive innovations. Virtual Prototypes provide a SW based simulation of a Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which are used for development and test of embedded SW independent from hardware. The team is distributed across multiple CARIAD sites, the main team location being Nuremberg.
As a DevOps Engineer within the HW/SW CoDesign & Virtual Platforms team you architect and develop the automated build and delivery environment for Virtual Platforms within CARIAD.


  • Development and maintenance of the build, test and deployment flows for Virtual Platforms and contributing to the architecture of it
  • Support colleagues with the development and usage of automated flows and constantly monitor trends in relevant industries from which you derive and improve our concepts
  • Collect and align new requirements and drive their realization
  • In addition to the DevOps centric work, you will work with simulation technology for hardware and software systems (Virtual Platforms) within the team


  • University degree in the field of computer science or relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience in automating build and delivery flows for SW based products
  • Practical experience in DevOps tools and programming languages such as Jenkins, gitlab, github, bamboo, bitbucket, ansible, nginx, C/C++, Python, TCL (at least a subset out of the listed tools and programming languages
  • Practical experience in using and managing Linux based development and server machines
  • Experience in modeling of hardware and software systems on different levels of abstraction as well as experience in embedded software is beneficial
  • Experience in the SW industry; automotive is not a must
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, German is beneficial
