For our SPECTRALIS image analysis software we are looking for a research engineer (m/f/d) for medical image analysis and artificial intelligence in full time. As a research engineer you will have a central role in our development team for the implementation and integration of innovative computer vision and machine learning features, especially deep learning, into our medical products. You will have the fascinating opportunity to take part in the creation of the next generation of artificial intelligence for our medical products and have the positive impact on the quality of life for many patients.

Your tasks

  • Evaluation, planning and development of machine learning applications as part of our medical software
  • Implementation of prototypes and product features as well as the preparation of requirement and design documentation
  • Managing academic and clinical research collaborations related to machine learning and facilitating knowledge and innovation transfer into our products
  • Providing support for operational and strategic decisions related to artificial intelligence for our medical products

your qualifications

  • Successfully completed university degree (ideally PhD) in computer science, mathematics, physics, or related areas
  • Practical experience in industrial or academic research in the areas of computer vision and machine learning, in particular deep learning, ideally supported by publications and open-source projects
  • Excellent knowledge in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow) and C/C++
  • Bonus points: Recent industrial experience in ML/AI and healthcare, experience in dataset curation or deployment of deep learning models, past exposure to regulatory affairs, background knowledge in ophthalmology.
