SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST*

THIS IS US

The Data Science department uses state-of-the-art machine learning and optimization techniques to continuously improve business processes at NEW YORKER. We work in agile project teams on a variety of use cases, including image recognition, order optimization, pricing, distribution and logistics. We are a very ambitious and international team and are proud of our high standards.

THAT'S THE JOB

  • Execute explorative analyses of structured and unstructured data sets as well as feature engineering and building data pipelines
  • End-to-end development and operationalization of Machine Learning models in a team of highly motivated and experienced Data Scientists and Data Engineers
  • Communicate with stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical requirements and present the results of your work
  • Write consistently great code and mentor more junior team members through code reviews and pairing
  • Strive to continuously improve our tooling and our common libraries
  • Debug even the hardest bugs and trickiest data problems
  • Apply industry best practices to your daily work such as writing good tests and ensuring reproducibility

THAT’S WHAT WE NEED

  • University degree in a relevant field, e.g. computer science, statistics or physics with at least two years of experience working as a Data Scientist
  • Excellent knowledge of machine learning, statistics and a deep intuition about feature engineering, model choice, cross validation strategy, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of Python and routine use of Git and the command line
  • Extensive experience in the use of open source data libraries like scikit-learn, pytorch, pyspark, jupyter, pandas and airflow
  • Experience with Spark, Hadoop or SQL as well as the application of modern software development methods
  • Interest in working both on the research and engineering aspects of data science
  • Lifelong learner who stays up to date in the fast-moving field of data science
  • Maintain a high and mostly consistent personal velocity of work tasks, communication skills and hands-on mentality
  • Good spoken and written German, fluent English is a must-have
