Job Description

We remain different. You too?

Tchibo is one of the ten largest e-commerce companies in Germany. We wouldn't have been able to do this without the courage to continually rethink what already exists. At Tchibo, we work in the digital area to develop sustainable and effective solutions using modern technologies. Would you like to support us? Enrich our team with your new ideas!

Your tasks: You make the difference with us.

  • As a data engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on cloud data warehousing , you are part of the data intelligence team that controls a large part of Tchibo's data pipelines in our Big Data Analytics Platform (BDAP). The BDAP is a state-of-the-art cloud analytics platform in GCP , organized as a data mesh.
  • You contribute to the provision of relational data in the terabyte range into the data mesh . Modern data services with high business importance use this data, for example to use deep learning models to estimate customer demand.
  • Your area also includes a tailor-made data management framework that combines modern cloud data warehousing best practices with state-of-the-art database and data processing technologies such as Google BigQuery and Google Dataflow .
  • You have control over the design of the self-built system architecture at a deep level with Python , Kubernetes , Google APIs/SDKs , GitLab CI/CD as well as over the development of our data models in our highly automated layered architecture with Data Vault for raw data and a flexible business layer for Data Marts and Custom Data Models.
  • A strong team is waiting for you: business analytics, data scientists and data engineers with whom you will be in close contact to provide the right level of data and service quality for the data mesh and our company stakeholders. Machine learning and generative AI have proven that our work has a direct impact on the end customer's experience.

Your profile: You keep reinventing us.

  • You have successfully completed a degree in computer science, mathematics, business administration or a comparable qualification and have professional experience in the business intelligence environment .
  • You feel at home on cloud platforms (e.g. GCP & AWS) , program fluently in Python and are familiar with database architectures - preferably massively parallel databases.
  • You have experience with the challenges and best practices of relational data management or data warehousing in a medium to large data environment.
  • You are characterized by your strong technical and analytical thinking as well as a structured and solution-oriented way of working.
  • In addition, you have good written and spoken German and English skills.
  • Do you enjoy what you do and enjoy working in X-functional teams ? Then we look forward to receiving your documents!

Your advantages: Together we remain different.

  • Benefit from 30 days of vacation, flexible working hours, the opportunity to work part-time and work from home.
  • We offer you holiday care for children, family service offers and, in some cases , our own daycare places - so that you can easily combine your work and private life.
  • You can look forward to the good transport connections to our headquarters and a travel allowance for the Hamburg transport association.
  • You will receive an employee discount on all Tchibo items and monthly Tchibo coffee of your choice for private enjoyment.
  • There is something for every taste: you are well catered for with a restaurant, bistro, cafeteria and free drinks . And at Christmas there is the Tchibo Christmas roast , also vegan.
  • In our leisure center you can keep fit in the fitness center, in the swimming pool and with sports courses.

Does our position suit you? Then we look forward to receiving your application! It's super quick: register, upload attachments, answer our motivational questions - done. Without a cover letter!
