Senior Data Governance Engineer (m/f/d)

In this role, you are responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of the data governance framework within the Data & Analytics team. You will work extensively with our data practitioners from Data Architecture, Engineering & Science on one hand, and with Data Protection & Compliance Officers and IT Security Experts on the other. We expect you to be genuinely interested in data, enjoy working hands-on with it, and love setting up and managing governance mechanisms around data. You will pave the way for even better data & analytics solutions to help us make better and more human-centric decisions.

What will be your challenge in the role:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy and framework to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Advocate for data governance principles and practices across the organization
  • Establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to data governance policies
  • Define data quality mechanisms to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement
  • Oversee data lineage, metadata management, and data cataloging
  • Implement data stewardship practices to maintain data integrity and reliability
  • Define and visualize existing data models together with our data architects
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data governance issues and inquiries
  • Foster a culture of data literacy and accountability across the organization
  • Assess the latest market trends and industry best practices regarding data governance
  • Proactively capture opportunities for further improvement of Data Governance within the organization
  • Work in a global, multinational Data & Analytics team in a dynamic FinTech environment

What you need to succeed in the role:

  • A University degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or comparable disciplines, ideally with a focus on Data & Analytics / Data Management
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in data practitioner roles within Data & Analytics solutions
  • At least 3 years of practical experience as a Data Governance Engineer and experience with Data Catalog solutions
  • Knowledge of relevant data protection regulations (within the EU) and their implications on hands-on work with data
  • Deep knowledge of modern Data Governance concepts, as well as Data Modeling and Data Management
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure technology stack
  • Fluent English, German, or Norwegian is a plus
  • Structured way of thinking and working with strong conceptualization skills, as well as exceptional execution skills
