AI Data Engineer (m/f/d)

Field of activity

The AI ​​laboratory brings together AI expertise and AI talent in a central unit in the Digital Strategy and Digital Transformation department. As an expert team for AI and use case factory, we bring AI to the DRV Bund and are available to all specialist departments as a contact person with our support and advice. In a constantly growing interdisciplinary team, we use AI technologies to deliver new solutions and thus do pioneering work for the numerous challenges facing a federal agency with more than 26,000 employees.

Your tasks

• Responsible for the conception, development and implementation of data science applications with a cross-functional team and/or external service providers
• Development of scalable and robust data pipelines to ensure data integrity and efficiency in the context of machine learning applications
• Implementation of medium and large language models in our data systems
• Development of Python applications for data import, event-triggering processes and optimization of ML Ops and DevOps processes.
• Close collaboration with product owners and IT specialists to ensure smoother processes and reliable results
• Strategic and technical participation in shaping the company-wide technology landscape in the interests of further developing DRV Bund into an AI-savvy organization
• Support the professional development of junior colleagues

Your profile

• Completed academic higher education (Master / Diploma or comparable) with a quantitative focus; ideally in the MINT field of study (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences or technology) or social or economic sciences
• Several years of professional experience in collecting, preparing and providing data in optimized data architecture, including at least 1 year in the context of automated AI systems
• Several years of professional experience in dealing with relational database systems (especially Oracle), distributed data management systems (e.g. Hadoop), cloud platforms and container technologies (e.g. Kubernetes)
• Very good knowledge of common database languages ​​(especially SQL), APIs (especially REST) ​​and their connection to machine learning pipelines (especially Python)
• Very good understanding of the efficient development, automation and maintenance of data flows, as well as the creation and optimization of data architectures
• Ideally, initial experience in the integration of large language models and vector databases
• Enthusiasm for data analytics, artificial intelligence and business process automation, especially in the context of the public sector (GovTech)
• Proactive communication behavior, strong willingness to cooperate and networked thinking in agile collaboration

To fill the position, we will conduct an interview with the most qualified applicants. Part of the selection process will be a work sample in the form of a programming task in Python.
