Job Description

At BioNTech, you support the Bioinformatics R&D team in bioinformatics research.

Your tasks in detail are:

  • Concept development for algorithms in the field of artificial intelligence, integration of AI models in research and production

  • Development of Large Language and Multimodal Models

  • Conducting analyses with multimodal real-world data sources (e.g. multi-omics and medical imaging data)

  • Analysis, development, creation of software and pipelines including versioning and documentation in the field of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and other high-throughput data

  • Providing solutions for R&D but also as an interface to clinical projects eg in the areas of immunotherapy and biomarker analysis

  • Get involved in innovative projects with various partners such as biological and machine-learning teams to collaboratively develop new analysis tools

  • Architecture and implementation of software mainly in Python including validation

  • Literature research on innovative methods in the field of NGS, AI/ML and bioinformatics

What you bring with you:

  • Completed studies with a doctorate in the field of (bio-)mathematics, (bio-)physics, bioinformatics or a comparable field

  • Experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, algorithm development, AI & LLM (Large Language Models)

  • Experience especially with Python, but also knowledge of other programming languages ​​such as R

  • Profound experience in developing software solutions for analyses and pipelines in the field of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

  • Experienced in analyzing and processing data

  • Experience in handling clinical data sets is an advantage

  • Experience in the field of immunology and/or cancer desirable

  • Experience in a GxP regulated environment is an advantage

  • Organizational talent with independent, solution-oriented working style and high social skills as well as strong teamwork skills

  • Fluent written and spoken German and English
