Essity is strategically focusing on the Hygiene and Health businesses to accelerate its use of information both internally and externally. Internally, there are large opportunities to better manage Master Data, Meta Data and Content; and use Analytics, Big Data and Social capabilities to achieve the strategic priorities of profitable growth, innovation and efficiency. Externally, Essity will significantly increase the use of information to engage, sell to and service the end consumer of our products.

To achieve the desired business outcomes there needs to be an overall focus and change in the approach to Business Intelligence (BI) within Essity IT. We need to dramatically accelerate our efforts to ensure the overall supply of BI to our business supports our existing and future needs.

To strengthen our Business Intelligence capabilities, we are searching for an IT Manager - Business Intelligence to be based in one of our offices in Munich (Germany), Göteborg (Sweden) or possibly Spain.

The IT Manager for BI is a Functional Leader responsible for ensuring our large enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence platform is best utilized to ensure IT supplies increasingly valuable business intelligence solutions. This includes driving functional capability and adopting best practices to deliver operational excellence in a heterogeneous BI landscape.

This role works primarily with information and solution architects, business partners, the service delivery manager and the BI team - currently consisting of business analysts, developers and the BI technology platform owner.

As a Functional Leader, you are equally able to communicate with developers to drive performance and senior IT stakeholders on why functional directions are recommended or have been decided. This includes understanding the organizational and business impacts, developing the change approach as well as the underlying business value and needs that drive the functional directions.

You feel ownership (and are responsible) for the performance of BI team and know how to balance speed and quality in their delivery.

You are used to working with (and developing) both internal and external suppliers from multiple countries and cultures.

Main Tasks

  • Take ownership, drive performance and operational excellence of the BI team
  • Plan and develop change initiatives aligned with the Digital Strategy, IT Strategy, business service and architecture roadmaps, for example, in the areas of team development, organization, process, governance
  • Drive these changes to expand or improve functional capabilities, the quality and value delivery of the BI team
  • Support business partners, solution architects and project managers in providing supply of functional capabilities to fulfil the business demands in the right time, cost and quality
  • Actively seek out new ways of working, functional trends and advocate for change within Essity’s BI team

Key Competencies

  • University degree in management information systems, business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics or related discipline
  • More than five years of leadership experience in Business Intelligence, or related discipline
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and driving organizational change, including team development, governance and process to improve quality and value delivery
  • Broad knowledge of the Business Intelligence disciplines and market trends
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong commercial understanding
  • Preferable to have hands-on experience in a variety of BI related roles
  • Preferable to have knowledge of the SAP and Microsoft BI software offerings
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral
  • Ability to travel
