DevOps & Cloud Security Engineer (m/f/d) – Focus on Azure, Kubernetes & Zero Trust

Job Description

People are our focus.
We firmly believe that diversity is the foundation for innovation and success. That's why we foster an open and respectful work environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, or individual life path. Our corporate culture is characterized by collaboration, mutual support, and a strong team spirit. We offer you the flexibility to balance your professional and private life and create space for personal and professional development. Together, we are shaping the digital future – and every opinion counts.
This is what it's about:

Cloud & Kubernetes

  • Azure Infrastructure as Code: You are responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of Azure resources (AKS, networks, storage, security) – working with Terraform, Bicep, and Ansible.
  • Kubernetes expertise: You will set up, scale, and optimize Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) clusters. This includes Helm charts, Ingress Controllers, cluster automation, and hardening.
  • CI/CD & GitOps: You will develop and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines (YAML) for build, test, and deployment processes. The focus will be on GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux) and the implementation of Compliance as Code.

Security & Compliance

  • Zero Trust & Secure Design: The implementation of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), Least Privilege, Defense in Depth and Immutable Infrastructure is part of your responsibilities.
  • DevSecOps: You seamlessly integrate security scans (SAST/DAST, container scans), compliance checks (e.g., OPA, Checkov, Trivy), and secret management into the development and deployment workflow.
  • Kubernetes & Container Security: You will specifically secure clusters, container runtimes, image security, and service meshes, and further develop existing security concepts.
  • SIEM & Threat Management: You will support incident detection and response, analyze logs, and work with SOAR solutions (Security Orchestration, Automation & Response).
  • Compliance & Standards: You ensure compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 27001/27002, BSI Basic Protection, NIST Cybersecurity Framework and IT Security Catalog (KRITIS).

Monitoring & Optimization

  • End-to-end monitoring: Your responsibilities include the implementation and further development of monitoring and observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, and tracing (OpenTelemetry, Jaeger).
  • Troubleshooting: You proactively analyze performance bottlenecks and costs and get to the bottom of problems – because “It works” is far from enough for you.
You bring the following:

Technical skills

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): You have experience with Terraform (priority), Bicep and/or Ansible – including modularization and state management.
  • Azure Cloud: You also bring a deep understanding of the Azure platform, especially in the areas of AKS, networks and security.
  • Kubernetes: You have practical experience with AKS deployments, Helm, Ingress, cluster upgrades, and security hardening.
  • CI/CD & GitOps: You work with Azure DevOps Pipelines (YAML) and are familiar with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Monitoring/Observability: You confidently apply your hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor and OpenTelemetry.
  • DevSecOps: You're involved in security from the very beginning – for example, through the use of tools like Trivy, Checkov, OPA/Gatekeeper and Compliance as Code.
  • Security & Compliance: You are familiar with Zero Trust, ISO 27001, BSI Basic Protection, NIST and Kubernetes Security.

Mindset & Soft Skills

  • Working style & mindset: Automation is second nature to you, clean code – also for infrastructure – is important to you, and you have a good sense for pragmatic solutions.
  • Security Mindset: Security awareness, agile security, and risk management are integral parts of your daily work.
  • Work style: You are good at working independently and in a solution-oriented manner, and you don't shy away from complex challenges.
  • Communication: You will closely coordinate requirements and solutions with your team and with our customers.
