Fuel sloshing effects have to be analyzed - and sometimes mitigated - for a variety of spacecraft, since they may represent a driving disturbance to the attitude pointing and control stability. The AOCS/GNC & Flight Dynamics department conducts the required engineering and analyses for the running and future programs.

Tasks & accountabilities

In this framework, this internship is meant to support all running activities on fuel sloshing, such as

  • conduction and analysis of tests on the existing Microslosh experiment hardware in the lab
  • upgrade of existing fuel sloshing simulators and conduction of sensitivity and performance analyses
  • set-up of fuel sloshing simulators for new programs and technology studies (for DLR, ESA and EU)
  • support for new proposals (for DLR, ESA and EU)

Required skills

You offer:

  • Enrolled student within Aero Space Engineering or similar field of study
  • Very good knowledge in Matlab/Simulink
  • Very good knowledge in spacecraft dynamics
  • Good knowledge in fuel sloshing and flexible modes analyses (incl. related tools)
  • Good knowledge in control engineering for space applications (AOCS/GNC)
  • Knowledge of Labview is an asset
  • Knowledge of Embedded software generation is an asset
  • English: fluent

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
