Description of the job

Aircraft Aerodynamics department (35 hours/week, flexi-time).

Location: Bremen
Start: as soon as possible
Duration: 5-6 months

As an intern you will develop and implement different algorithms to interpolate (predict) surface pressure solutions on an aircraft based on snap shots computed by high fidelity CFD. You will be located in the aircraft aerodynamics team and support the aero data for loads work.

Tasks & accountabilities

For a test case where surface pressure information will be generated by CFD for a limited number of flow parameter variations; intermediate surface pressure solutions shell be approximated.
Different state of the art mathematical approaches shell be implemented and validated to build a multi parameter model to be benchmarked to existing approaches.
Uncertainty Quantification and Supervised Machine Learning will be elements of the work.

The overall task is structured as follows:

  • Study state of the art approaches
  • Setup and run a CFD study
  • Implementation and validation
  • Benchmark to conventional processes
  • Documentation and presentation

Required skills

You offer:

  • Enrolled student within Computer Science, CFD or similar field of study
  • Advanced programming skills in Matlab and Python
  • User experience with Linux
  • Fluent in English

You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
