PayPal is seeking an experienced data scientist to join our Global Lifecycle Analytics organization. This team supports the Global Lifecycle team by driving the development and implementation of statistical models, the alignment of measurement and marketing activities. The scope of this position is global with a focus on mathematics, statistics and data science.

Job Description:

Data Scientist Global Lifecycle (m / f)

Core responsibilities:

  • Drive development and use of statistical models to improve lifecycle marketing
    • Develop statistically correct test designs for secure base data for modeling
    • Lead and perform deep-dive analysis using analytical and statistical tools (SQL, Python / R / SAS or similar, Hadoop / Spark) on very large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets
    • Drive development and implementation of statistical models to automate data based lifecycle marketing
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations and communicate them to senior stakeholders
    • Apply advanced analytics / data science techniques to generate insights
    • Ensure rigorous quality control over data, analysis and metrics
    • Ensure clarity in communication as well as alignment for business and marketing metrics
  • Other
    • Partnering with other regional analytics teams to ensure best practice sharing, implementation and utilization of global frameworks and models
    • Partner with global lifecycle marketing team

Requirements:

  • Degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics or operations research preferred
  • Experience gained as a data scientist, marketing analyst, business analyst or in a similar analytical position
  • Experience in marketing and / or lifecycle analytics a plus
  • Sound knowledge in statistics and mathematics
  • Strong programming skills (R, Python, SAS or similar, SQL, ideally Hadoop / Spark)
  • Ability to structure problems and synthesize large quantities of data into clear conclusions / recommendation
  • Commercially savvy - able to translate analytical studies into actionable business insight and business problems
  • A passion for problem-solving, flexibility, comfort with ambiguity, creativity, and hunger to constantly ask "why?"
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with multiple
