Ansys is seeking an application engineering manager to lead our team of experts supporting simulation of electric drives and electromechanical systems. The successful candidate leads by example, motivates the team, guides strategic customer engagements and supports collaboration across the entire organization to support these activities. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a team of application experts who:
    • are trusted partners and technical advisors to customers as they leverage simulation in the product development process.
    • support the sales team by providing technical and application expertise in support of customer engagements.
    • collaborate with customers and the Ansys product development team to ensure that delivery of the greatest possible value as derived from customer requirements.
  • Leverage market insight and strategic vision to guide activities and coordinate priorities within the team.
  • Adapt to a continuously evolving environment while providing consistent guidance to team members.
  • Demonstrate technical excellence and regularly engage in customer-facing activities to support use of Ansys software.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's (Dipl. Ing) degree in electrical engineering with focus on electric drives, and/or power electronics.
  • Solid understanding of the basic principles of electromagnetic fields in the context of energy conversion.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics and power management.
  • Industrial experience designing electrical machines and drives as well as experience with power electronics.
  • Understanding of cost, size and performance trade-offs in electrical machines and drives.
  • Familiarity with electric motor and generator topology and applications.
  • Ability to describe complex technical concepts to a range of audiences.
  • Basic understanding of numerical methods and circuit simulation.
  • Fluent in English and German



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Degree (Dr. Ing or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Matlab, Python or another high-level programming language applied to solving problems in mathematics, engineering or physics.
  • Experience in Project management, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Basic understanding of control theory as applied to electric machines.
  • Familiarity with high performance computing and schedulers.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system.
  • Automotive experience is desirable.
