Job Description

Hydrogenics, part of the Cummins Group, is an industry-leading developer of renewable hydrogen technology, and we are currently looking to hire a Data Engineer to join us in our Gladbeck location.

You will work as part of Aftersales Team, collecting and processing data from our products in the field that will influence key decisions in regards to product development.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following;

  • Investigate product, system, and/or technology problems, understanding causal mechanisms, and recommending appropriate action. Take ownership of problem resolution and document results.
  • Apply knowledge and experience to take action and make decisions that progress projects forward without sacrificing project quality expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to drive improvements in data collection, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Setup project data logging and ensure data correctness and integrity at all times.
  • Assist with the smooth migration of the database to the server.
  • Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding of cloud storage for processing data.
  • Research and implement security measures for IP protection and IOT environment


To be successful in this role, you will need;

  • Degree Qualified, in Electrical/ Software/ Systems Engineering, or existing experience in a similar position.

  • Knowledge of SQL, Cloud Technology, SPARK, Scala/Java, Map-Reduce, Hive, Hbase, and Kafka would be beneficial.

  • Python Programming Skills are highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey a clear understanding of the needs of the business.

  • A natural rapport building ability teamed with a collaborative working style.

  • An analytical mind with the ability to interrogate data and from that come up with innovative solutions to potential problems.

  • The ability to work well and accurately in a time-constrained and pressured environment.

  • English skills are essential.

  • German skills strongly preferred.
