Position Description

QIAGEN serves more than 500,000 customers around the globe, all seeking insights from the building blocks of life – DNA, RNA and proteins. We deliver Sample to Insight solutions for molecular testing, propelling QIAGEN customers from start to finish to unlock new insights. This is how we make improvements in life possible.

Our development team in Hilden (near Düsseldorf) creates the software that makes it happen. We combine data from medical IoT devices with our sophisticated algorithms, and process it through custom workflow management systems. We integrate results of distributed components and microservices with each other as well as our cloud based Big Data solutions and use Machine Learning for its analysis.

Currently, we are looking for a Software Project Manager Data Science / Machine Learning who would like to join our international and truly cross-functional / interdisciplinary teams to create high-quality software that matters.

  • In this role, you will be planning and Executing complex software projects, mainly in the areas of process automation and diagnostics within our molecular diagnostic department.
  • You will be building strategies in assessing and planning data science and machine learning related tasks like trial design and data analysis.
  • Gathering, assessing, and prioritizing different requirements from the diagnostics and biotechnology fields, plays a huge role in your daily work.
  • Our Global Product Management is one of your main stakeholders to ensure a close connection to our customers and their needs.
  • You are the interface between departments and different functions within the software development organization at QIAGEN.

Position Requirements

  • You have been leading software projects for at least 3 years in the past, ideally in biotechnology or bioinformatics. Especially genetics/NGS or a similar field would be beneficial.
  • You have gained practical experience in analyzing large, complex data (i.e. data science or images), ideally in the field of pharma trials or production monitoring, ideally with artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Agile project management is something you enjoy. Ideally, you have been a Product Owner, Project Manager, or Product Manager.
  • You have practical experience in designing trials, performance assessments, validation studies or similar. Ideally in a regulated environment.

Personal Requirements

  • You are known for your attention to detail, initiative and drive, and being a strong team player.
  • The ability to efficiently disseminate knowledge and results to internal and external experts, non-experts and development leads is one of your key strengths. Also, you are a keen learner and enjoy solving technically demanding challenges.
  • The role includes frequent interaction with international colleagues, and awareness of cultural differences is an advantage, also fluent business English – written and spoken – is required. Therefore you also enjoy occasional traveling (up to 20%).
