We are using human skin as predictive organ and state of the art technologies like single cell sequencing and CRISPR/Cas. With systems biology as topic of the PhD thesis the aim is to deeply understand the complex system of skin biology as a whole by full exploitation of biological data to reveal new concepts.

The successful PhD candidate will:

  • Classify skin samples using an integrative approach
  • Establish and optimize a computing model
  • Characterizing biological processes within defined consumer groups
  • Identification of extrinsic and intrinsic risk factors

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Biostatistics or aligned field
  • Experiences in programming with R
  • Experiences in analyzing genome-wide NGS data (e.g. RNA-Seq or 850K Chips)
  • Experiences in classification/ clustering and time series algorithms
  • Ideally familiar in handling big data sets and MySQL databases
  • Ideally familiar in programming with Python and Bash
  • Good English communication in both oral and written
