Job Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) can significantly speed up drug discovery and development and shorten identification of the right patients for clinical trials thereby creating better medicines that save lives. AI and Deep Analytics (AIDA) is a critical group in Digital and Data Sciences (DDS) organization at Sanofi R&D focused on applications of AI/ML and Deep Learning (DL) in Multiomics Analysis, Precision Medicine and Digital Pathology, in silico drug design, digital health, and extraction of knowledge and insights from documents.

Our existing research and development areas include Bioinformatics applied to analysis of the single-cell sequences, spatial transcriptomics, and multi-omics data for biomarker discovery, target identification, and patient stratification; de novo design of multi-specific antibodies; Deep Learning-based biomarker discovery from histopathology images; natural language processing (NLP), digital signal processing (DSP) and machine learning applied to digital health and patient-generated data from wearables.

We are seeking a Bioinformatics data scientist in the AIDA Group who specializes in single-cell sequence analysis and applications of machine learning to multi-omics analysis.

The successful candidate will collaborate with other Bioinformatics data scientists working in precision immunology and translational sciences at Sanofi R&D.

The candidate will directly report to the Global Head of AI and Deep Analytics at Sanofi R&D.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applying AI/ML algorithms to tasks such as classification, clustering, prediction, dimensionality reduction, data visualization, relationship discovery, and causal inference.
  • Close interactions with other data scientists in AIDA as well as scientists in immunology clusters and translational medicine
  • Update and report relevant results to interdisciplinary project teams and stakeholders
  • Maintain a keen awareness of recent developments in data science and precision medicine
  • Active engagement in evaluation and coordination of both academic and external collaborations

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A PhD degree and a Postdoc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biophysics, and Computational life Sciences
  • a strong record of accomplishments and project experience in computational biology and autoimmune diseases/immunology
  • Strong familiarity with core concepts in Machine Learning and Statistical Analysis
  • Familiarity with Data Visualization and dimensionality reduction algorithms
  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL databases
  • Ability to develop, benchmark and apply predictive algorithms to identify novel biomarkers, dissect gene/disease relationships and generate hypotheses
  • Experience with Bayesian analysis and causal inference
  • Familiarity with modern sequencing technologies such as SMART-seq and 10x Genomics
  • A change agent with a combination of business, science & technology, and diplomatic skills
