Job Description

For our Airbus Defence and Space site in Potsdam, unit “Geospatial Solutions, section „Mapping & DEM Development", we are looking for an Application Developer (d/f/m) for Digital Elevation Models.

The team "Mapping & DEM Development" develops new products and processes based on radar remote sensing with a focus on Digital Elevation Models (DEMs).

Tasks:

• Development of products and process chains based on spatial data
• Evolution of geospatial data, mainly Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and derived products
• Automation of processes for derivation and improvement of data and quality control procedures
• Development of user-defined solutions, e.g. spatial & statistical analysis of raster and vector data (DEMs, land cover and land use), also by applying machine learning methodology
• Performance of Project management duties
• Modification and documentation of project related tasks
• Participation in international projects such as the ESA-Copernicus-Program
• Exchange and interaction within an international environment
• Active support and conduction of internals as well as external customer trainings
• Active support of the product management
• Cooperation in the conduction of new product campaigns
• Support of publications and visualisations of spatial data

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

• University degree or education with a focus on Geosciences or Geoinformatics or similar
• Multiple years of working experience in development/production of Remote Sensing Geoinformation services
• Working experience in an international environment would be an advantage
• Experience with Earth Observation data (opitcal/radar) would be an advantage
• Experience in GIS software (ERDAS, ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)
• Programming knowledge in R and Python for processing of spatial data as well as understanding of relational data bases /SQL
• Enhanced MS-Office skills
• Analytical and independent working ability
• A good team player with excellent communication skills and ability to work within dynamic multi-national teams
• Flexibility and willingness to travel abroad
• Motivation and initiative to originate new ideas for further developments
• Fluent in English and German (Writing, Speaking)
