Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Java Software Engineer (f/m/d) with a background in networking and distributed computing to join one of our specialised R&D teams in Nuremberg, Berlin or remote (DE/NL/ES/SE/UK/BE/FR).

Key responsibilities:

  • As a member of the product integration team you develop software that builds
    bridges between the Exasol core database and other products
  • You create connectors and plug-ins that enable communication between Exasol
    and 3rd party products
  • The software you write is predominately Open Source Software, so you have the
    opportunity to interact with our OSS community
  • You write tutorials and user guides for the software you create, in order to provide
    a full-fledged product

Your profile:

  • You have at least 3 years’ experience as a Java developer and are used to working
    with Unix-style operating systems, especially Linux
  • You have worked with relational databases before
  • Your knowledge of the Java standard library is up to date (at least Java 11)
  • You have a solid knowledge of network communication (IP, TCP, UDP and higher
    protocol levels like HTTP), including skills in debugging network connection issues
  • Distributed computing and concurrency know-how are highly beneficial
  • Debuggers (and ideally profilers) are an integral part of your toolkit
  • Familiarity with the Apache Maven build (and project) framework is beneficial
  • You have experience writing scripts with language such as Bash or Python
  • While not strictly necessary, familiarity with other general-purpose programming
    languages (e.g. C / C++, Python or Rust) is a plus
  • You consider the necessity of extensive automated software testing a given fact
  • Working as a team player is important for you
