We are looking to recruit as soon as possible a Scientist in the field of biostatistics for maize and oilseed crops (m/f/d) for an unlimited period of time and on a full-time basis within KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA at our headquarters in Einbeck (Lower Saxony / Germany).
In this position, you will strongly collaborate with the maize and oilseed crops breeding and research teams worldwide and with scientists from multiple areas.
Responsible to support breeding programs with statistical data analysis and research in the context of quantitative genetics and predictive breeding
Close interaction with breeding programs to investigate and optimize breeding schemes
Develop concepts and prototype new statistical approaches in collaboration with breeding and biostatistics teams
Training and supporting maize and oilseed crop breeding and research teams in applying statistical approaches
Regular participation and contribution to working group meetings, workshops, and breeders meetings
Bring in your strengths:
Ph.D. or master’s degree with first experience in plant or animal breeding, plant genetics, mathematics, or statistics
Knowledge of plant breeding and/or quantitative genetics and high interest in testing and developing new ideas and approaches
Ability to manage large data analysis based on good knowledge and skills with R software and/or other programming languages e.g. Python, C++, Fortran
Experience with quantitative genetic approaches, e.g. genomic prediction analytics, population genetics, GWAS etc. is a plus
Excellent team player, analytical and critical thinking, open minded, and good communication skills
Professional written and verbal communication skills in English
Attendance for travelling occasionally
