In 1998, Bert Flossbach and Kurt von Storch founded Flossbach von Storch SE in Cologne. Both partners shared a desire for independence and a commitment to first-class investment management. The company's roots lie in serving high-net-worth individuals; today, the company is the largest independent asset manager in Germany and one of the largest German managers of multi-asset funds. Together with Prof. Dr. Thomas Mayer, they founded the Flossbach von Storch Research Institute in 2014. The institute conducts research primarily on economic and monetary policy topics.
