Profil GmbH is a full-service CRO with a dedicated focus on diabetes and other metabolic diseases, based in Germany and certified according to ISO 9001 and 13485. Profil was established in 1999 as a spin-off from an academic research group within the Department of Metabolic Diseases and Nutrition at the University of Düsseldorf. Unlike other CROs, we focus our clinical research exclusively on diabetes and other metabolic diseases. Thanks to our advanced infrastructure, including a large recruitment database (>17,000 individuals with diabetes), a dedicated regulatory affairs department, a fully GMP-certified pharmacy, and an in-house clinical unit in Neuss with over 60 beds, we consistently deliver clinical studies within agreed timelines. We have implemented numerous sophisticated methods allowing characterization of pharmacodynamic effects already in early-phase trials. Our key competence comprises the performance of glucose clamp studies often combined with isotope dilution techniques and muscle or fat biopsies. We have been involved in the development of all major anti-diabetic compounds. However, Profil is more than a conventional CRO. We offer a unique integration of regulatory and scientific expertise. Our portfolio of complex experimental methods is unrivalled within both contract and academic research. Our scientific team is internationally recognized for its contributions in the fields of diabetes, pharmacology, obesity, prediabetes, cardiology, nutrition, endocrinology, and medical technology. We have published more than 360 papers in peer-reviewed journals and regularly present our research at international scientific meetings. With this deep expertise, we support optimized study design and the selection of the most appropriate experimental methodologies.
