The federal government has decided on a comprehensive consolidation of the IT of the federal government. Extensive organizational and technical measures are necessary to reorganize the federal IT system. The federal government will pool its strengths in IT and, to this end, gradually concentrate the IT operations of the immediate federal administration in one or two IT service providers at a few locations by 2022 (operational consolidation), and combine the development of IT applications and services that are frequently required by the federal government and build a federal cloud (application consolidation) and combine IT procurement in a few federal administration offices (procurement bundling). With the implementation of the federal IT consolidation, a cross-departmental project consisting of six sub-projects will be set up.
