The TU Ilmenau is a research-strong university and an attractive, internationally recognized location for excellent research and teaching. In around 100 subject areas at five faculties, scientists conduct innovative basic research and applied research in engineering, information technology, economics and media studies, mathematics and natural sciences at the highest level. To do this, they bundle their expertise in three profile lines: Functional materials and technologies, intelligent sensor technology and precision measurement technology, and complex systems and data-intensive engineering. The modern equipment and personal support enable the approximately 4,500 students to receive high-quality, interdisciplinary training with a high degree of practical relevance in 44 bachelor's and master's degree programs. They are involved in teaching and research projects at an early stage, complete internships in business and then have excellent national and international career prospects as specialists and managers.
