HÄVG Hausärztliche Vertragsgemeinschaft AG

The Hausärztliche Vertragsgemeinschaft AG (HÄVG) is a management company for specialized primary care. It was founded by general practitioners for general practitioners to design and implement contracts in the healthcare system in accordance with Section 73b of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V). We support general practitioner associations in negotiating contracts with statutory health insurance funds and offer comprehensive management services for participating general practitioners. From organizing participation to disbursing fees, we handle everything related to primary care-centered care (HZV) for general practitioners. Many patients are familiar with the process: They visit their general practitioner with an ailment, and if necessary, the doctor refers them to a specialist. But even the direct route to a specialist can be difficult for the average patient: Which specialist is the right one for my condition? Where can I get an appointment? Who will take care of the follow-up treatment? A large part of the problem lies in a rather arbitrary treatment pathway. The patient's symptoms and overall health don't determine the right path to recovery; rather, the availability of appointments with the specialists contacted is the primary factor. And a holistic approach is lost in the process. Ultimately, each expert only sees a certain part of the problem and is neither aware of the patient's medical history nor the medical history of the patient's family. There is a lack of information, coordination, and communication between doctors – and this is where the integrated care contract comes into play.
