Job Description

About the Role at RobCo

At RobCo, we develop AI-powered robotic systems that make industrial processes more autonomous, efficient, and scalable. Our Autonomous Manufacturing Platform combines modular industrial hardware with physical AI, enabling rapid deployment and continuous optimization in real production environments.

With locations in Munich, San Francisco, and Austin, and backed by leading investors such as Lightspeed, Lingotto Innovation, and Sequoia, we are working to redefine industrial automation.

At RobCo, we automate the ordinary, so humans can do the extraordinary. To achieve this, we are looking for an ambitious Robotics & AI Engineer – Autonomy & Physical AI (m/f/d) to help us establish RobCo as leading provider of automation solutions.

We are looking for the builders, the researchers, and the systems thinkers who want to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI and real-world physical action.

As a member of our Autonomy & Learning team, you will shape the core of RobCo's next-generation robotic platform. Whether you are training foundational models, architecting distributed middleware, or building the evaluation engines that ensure safety and reliability, your work will run on real robots in the real world every day.

Your Responsibilities - Choose Your Impact Track
We are hiring across several core pillars. In your application, let us know where you shine:

Robot Learning & Research

  • Core responsibilities: Developing and deploying SOTA policies (VLA, Diffusion, RL) for robotic manipulation.

  • Key technologies: PyTorch, JAX, Hugging Face, Sim-to-Real.

Robotics & ML Infrastructure

  • Core responsibilities: Building the distributed foundations, ROS 2 middleware, and scalable cloud-native pipelines.

  • Key technologies: C++, Python, ROS 2, Zenoh, AWS, Docker.

Data & Evaluation Engineering

  • Core responsibilities: Owning the ecosystem for model testing, multimodal datasets, and automated simulation workflows.

  • Key technologies: Python, NumPy/Pandas, Ray Data, Isaac Sim/Unity.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A background in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or Data Engineering.

  • The Architect: You have 5-10+ years of experience in distributed systems, software engineering, or robotics platforms.

  • The Scientist: You have an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) and a track record of adapting academic research into robust, scalable robot capabilities.

  • The Craftsman: You write clean, maintainable Python or C++ and are comfortable working across multiple engineering disciplines.

  • The Evaluator: You are obsessed with rigor, metrics, and building the "evaluation engine" that drives model improvement.

Why join RobCo?

  • Develop modular, software-defined robotics solutions with us that set new standards in automation.

  • Help us build robots equipped with state-of-the-art AI that perceive their environment, analyze data, and make intelligent decisions in real time.

  • As part of a very dynamic and fast-growing scale-up, you will take on responsibility from day one, drive your own projects, and see the direct impact of your work.

  • Flat hierarchies, open communication, and regular 360° feedback enable fast decisions and support your professional and personal development.

  • Work out across Germany in over 7,200 studios with our subsidized Wellpass membership.

  • Flexible working hours, a modern office, and—depending on the role—the option to work from home.

  • Regular team events—from relaxed beer & pizza nights on the rooftop terrace to shared experiences on ski trips or at Oktoberfest.
