Lead Data Steward (f/m/d) - Data & AI Governance Center of Expertise

Job Description

Our Data & AI Governance team is looking for a Lead Data Steward (m/f/d) on a permanent contract based in Lille / Paris .

At Decathlon, we believe in the power of sport to unite and inspire. Our mission: to make sport accessible to everyone, everywhere in the world. To achieve this, data is at the heart of our strategy, guiding every decision, from product design to customer experience. Our challenge? To make it governed, secure, and actionable. You will join the Data & AI Governance Center of Expertise (CoE), a dynamic team of passionate individuals, to transform our raw data assets into a certified, auditable, and actionable asset, thus guaranteeing the excellence of our data and our transition to AI.

TA FUTURE CONTRIBUTION

Your role is to orchestrate our governance framework, drive the functional strategy, and unite our community of experts across the company. Your responsibilities revolve around four main areas of impact:

  • Functional Coordination & Operating Model: Coordinate the functional activity of the experts (7) within the CoE, ensure the consistency and evolution of the Data Governance framework, and develop the role of Data Steward within our Federated Operating Model.

  • Critical Data, References & Modeling: Manage the data governance framework and strategic KPIs for the company (single and reliable definition across tools). Define and manage the best practices for the Data Lake zones (Silver, Gold, Insight), ensuring mapping, classification (PII, sensitive data), and cross-functional model consistency.

  • Community Engagement & Support: Support and become a trusted partner for Business Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Owners. Define the engagement strategy for the Data Knowledge Chapter to strengthen ownership and disseminate a Data Governance culture across Digital Units.

  • Automated Data Governance & "Governance by Design": Industrialize, automate, and simplify the framework to reduce Time to Market (TTM). Actively contribute to change management to integrate governance from the project design stage and measure business impact through key adoption indicators.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Senior Expertise: Proven experience in Data Stewardship (functional and technical) and Data Governance, with an excellent understanding of Cloud architectures and associated business challenges.

  • Collaborative leadership: A proven ability to unite, align and coordinate teams of experts and to communicate with impact within a federated, multi-site and international organization.

  • Data & Analytics Culture: A strong sensitivity to the quality of KPIs, to inter-tool alignment, as well as to the reflex to measure the impact and adoption of the frameworks put in place.

  • Facilitator stance: A business-oriented mindset, focused on supporting, simplifying and automating processes rather than imposing constraints.

STACK TECHNIQUE

In your daily work, you will be part of a modern technological ecosystem including:

  • Governance & Metadata: Collibra, Unity Catalog

  • Data Architecture & Transformation : Databricks, dbt, Airflow, Python

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

  • Hybrid work organization;

  • Equipment provided in accordance with your missions and our societal commitments (Mac or Windows);

  • A local project team within a global network (opportunity for an international career);

  • Skills development and support (diversity of projects, internal and external training, etc.);

  • Compensation package (employee share ownership, monthly/quarterly bonuses).
