For our nearly 15-person Analytics & Data Platforms department, we are looking for a Data Engineer who enjoys driving digitalization within ARD and its regional broadcasting corporations. As part of an interdisciplinary project team, you will be responsible for key projects: from implementing the ARD-wide data mesh and efficiently processing clickstreams to providing data marts for BI dashboards and the technical realization of recommendation systems and complex agentic AI use cases.

The following tasks await you with us

  • You design and operate scalable and reliable data pipelines. This lays the foundation for every smart, data-driven decision regarding ARD's digital products and enables innovative, data-driven offerings for ARD's end users.

  • Be the architect who makes knowledge accessible: Your modeling and provision of datasets is the crucial step in transforming raw data into trustworthy and actionable insights . This empowers ARD to transparently measure success and to understand our target groups respectfully and with nuance .

  • Shape the evolution of artificial intelligence with us: Working closely with our data scientists, you will be responsible for implementing groundbreaking AI/ML models (such as recommender systems and generative AI agents) in practice. Your technical expertise will ensure that our innovations are deployed quickly, reliably, and to the maximum benefit of ARD.

This is what you bring with you

  • Completed studies (computer science, engineering, natural sciences or comparable qualification)
  • Proven expertise in building and operating scalable data solutions in the cloud, ideally with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (especially BigQuery, Dataflow/Apache Beam, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, Cloud Storage)
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and SQL , as well as experience with a JVM language (e.g., Java/Scala). Proficient use of Git, DevOps principles (e.g., CI/CD, IaC with Terraform, and containerization with Docker), and DataOps principles (DBT, monitoring, cataloging).
  • Familiarity with the concept of Data Mesh and its implementation
  • Strong analytical skills for solving complex data problems, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills in an international environment ( English and German at least C1 level )
