The Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, is seeking to fill the following position as soon as possible in the third-party funded project “Sens2Net”.

A full-time position is available, limited to a term ending March 31, 2028. Salary will be based on pay grade 13 TV-L, provided the relevant requirements are met.

The Automation Technology and Mechatronics department is working on the project "Sens2Net: Intelligent micro-H2 sensor module for decentralized in-line measurement of hydrogen or hydrogen-containing gas mixtures". The project aims to develop methods for analyzing sensor data and models for the precise determination of hydrogen content in gas mixtures within the gas network.

Your tasks:

  • independent processing of the project “Sens2Net”
  • Processing and exploratory analysis of the sensor data acquired by the sensor system
  • Analysis and identification of influencing factors on hydrogen sensor values, especially for the detection of cross-sensitivities
  • Development of physical and data-driven models for the precise determination of the hydrogen content in the gas network
  • Combining physical and machine learning models into a hybrid modeling approach
  • Implementation of the models on microcontrollers for the calculation and correction of hydrogen sensor values ​​in real time
  • Validation and optimization of the models with regard to accuracy, robustness and real-time capability
  • Creation and presentation of scientific publications
  • Reporting and preparation of reports on the above activities

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master's, Diploma or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of data analysis, statistics and exploratory evaluation of sensor data, as well as model building and machine learning methods.
  • Experience in programming, including embedded programming, as well as in sensor technology
  • open and reproducible handling of scientific data and methods
  • Willingness to learn about new topics
  • Teamwork skills, independent work ethic, commitment
  • very good German skills, both spoken and written
