Job Description

Tutzing, Munich Metropolitan Region, Munich
Full-time
Permanent position

Job description:

This position is advertised as a hybrid or on-site role at our headquarters in Tutzing (south of Munich). We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender identity.
As part of our growing investments in a modern, scalable finance data infrastructure, we are seeking an experienced Data Analytics Engineer – Finance (m/f/d) for our internal Data & Analytics Department. This department is part of Lobster's internal Finance and Operations function and is responsible for building, developing, and continuously improving our internal data infrastructure – including the Finance Data Mart, data pipelines, and analytical models that support financial reporting and decision-making within Lobster DATA.
In this role, you will be responsible for building and developing our Finance Data Mart on a modern dbt + Snowflake stack. You will translate complex finance and business requirements into reliable, well-documented data models, support our CFO and management with KPI reporting, and enable high-quality investor reporting for our PE partner.
Ready to make a difference?

You are responsible for:

The design and construction of dbt models across our entire layer architecture (Staging Intermediate Marts)
  • Reporting) – with clean, tested and documented transformation logic
  • The migration of our existing SQL-based data warehouse to Snowflake on AWS, with the Finance Data Mart as the first productive result.
  • The end-to-end implementation of our Finance KPI framework – including ARR, NRR, Churn, Subscription Flips, Cloud Margin and over 65 other defined metrics.
  • The setup and maintenance of data pipelines from our central source systems: Vemas, Datev, HubSpot and Personio
  • Direct collaboration with the CFO and the finance team to translate business requirements into reliable, self-contained data products.
  • Support for ad-hoc analyses and in-depth evaluations for PE reporting, where speed and precision are equally important.
  • Reducing dependencies on individuals in our current processes by replacing manual logic with maintainable, versioned code

We are looking for someone with:

  • 3–5 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering or Business Intelligence
  • Solid DBT knowledge – you understand layer architectures and know why transformation logic belongs in int_* models and not in dashboards.
  • Practical experience with cloud data warehouse environments such as Snowflake, BigQuery or Redshift
  • Strong SQL skills, including window functions, CTEs, and performance optimization.
  • The ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders – to translate finance requirements into data models and to communicate data decisions clearly to a CFO.
  • Knowledge of common SaaS finance metrics (ARR, NRR, Churn, GRR) is a clear plus.
  • Experience with ERP or billing system data (e.g., Datev) is an advantage. Very good English skills;
  • Conversational level knowledge is a must.

Look forward to:

  • a modern, spacious office with a view of Lake Starnberg in Tutzing
  • Subsidies for lunch in our in-house restaurant
  • a personal training budget
  • 30 vacation days per year
  • 2 additional paid days off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
  • Up to 30 days of remote work per year from an EU country
  • Bicycle leasing through our partnership with JobRad
  • the possibility to work flexibly from home
  • Team evenings every Thursday with refreshments at company expense
  • a company pension scheme (bAV)
Even if you don't fully meet all the requirements, we encourage you to apply anyway!
