Our company is looking for a dedicated working student to support our team in the field of Maintenance Engineering in the development of modern data and AI-supported solutions – with a special focus on Applied AI, intelligent assistance systems and industrial knowledge systems.

As a working student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative future topics in an industrial environment and to apply your theoretical knowledge from your studies directly in practical projects.

The focus is on collaborating on intelligent digital assistance solutions for industrial maintenance and production environments. This includes modern approaches from the fields of GenAI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), industrial knowledge systems, and the intelligent processing and use of technical knowledge and maintenance data.

You will work in a dynamic and technology-oriented environment on innovative AI and assistance solutions in an industrial context. You will gain insights into the design and further development of modern AI-supported knowledge and support systems for the intelligent provision of technical information and solutions.

We, the Maintenance Engineering team, are a dynamic and dedicated team that deals with future-oriented topics related to industrial maintenance, digitalization, artificial intelligence and intelligent assistance systems.

Our expertise lies in organizational management and maintenance systems within highly automated production environments. Together with local maintenance teams and production staff, we develop modern, data- and AI-driven solutions to support efficient and stable production processes.

Our work encompasses the further development of digital systems and intelligent assistance solutions for industrial maintenance. This includes, among other things, the intelligent use and linking of technical knowledge sources, historical maintenance information, and modern software and AI technologies in the production environment.

A particular focus is on the development of data- and AI-supported assistance systems to support technical support, analysis, and maintenance processes within highly automated production environments. The goal is to make relevant technical knowledge efficiently available, to present complex relationships in an understandable way, and to intelligently support technical decision-making processes.

Here, we work on innovative solutions in the field of modern AI technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), intelligent knowledge systems, and data- and context-based support systems for industrial applications.

AI-supported assistance systems and industrial knowledge systems:

• Collaboration on modern AI-supported assistance systems for industrial maintenance

• Support in the further development of intelligent knowledge and support systems in industrial environments

• Participation in the structuring, processing and intelligent use of technical knowledge and maintenance data

GenAI, LLMs and RAG technologies:

• Collaboration on modern technologies in the field of Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and intelligent assistance systems

• Support in developing data- and AI-driven solutions to support technical support and analysis processes

• Support in the intelligent linking of technical information and different knowledge sources

Data and information processing in an industrial context:

• Support in processing and analyzing technical and historical maintenance information

• Collaboration in technical fault, root cause and process analyses together with engineering and maintenance teams.

• Support in structuring and preparing technical information for modern AI systems

Collaboration and innovation:

• Close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams from maintenance, production, digitalization and AI experts

• Independent handling of smaller work packages and active participation in shaping innovative future topics in the field of Industrial AI

The work can begin from July 2026.

• Technical degree program in the field of applied artificial intelligence, computer science, data science or software engineering

• Good practical programming skills in Python as well as basic knowledge of SQL

• Initial practical experience in AI, software or data-driven projects, e.g. in a university, private or professional setting.

• Basic understanding of modern AI technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or intelligent assistance systems

• Good knowledge of machine learning and statistical modeling is desirable.

• Experience in handling data structures, technical information, or knowledge-based systems

• Basic knowledge in the areas of data analysis, data processing, and structured information preparation.

• Knowledge of APIs, databases or interfaces is an advantage.

• Prior experience with development environments and tools such as Azure Databricks, Git, Jupyter Notebook, VS Code, or similar technologies is desirable.

• Technical understanding and the ability to grasp complex technical relationships

• Ability to independently familiarize oneself with technical topics and complex relationships

• Analytical and structured working style as well as strong problem-solving skills

• Technical understanding and interest in industrial processes and maintenance systems

• Self-initiative, teamwork skills, willingness to learn and enjoyment of working in a dynamic environment

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent German skills and good English skills, both spoken and written.
