Data Scientist (m/f/d) in Innovation Management

Halle (Saale) | Full-time | Fixed-term contract for two years

Our agency was jointly founded by the Federal Ministry of Defence and the Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community as the Agency for Innovation in Cybersecurity GmbH. Our mission is to identify future topics in the field of cybersecurity and the associated key technologies. We fund and support exciting and outstanding research projects. In doing so, we contribute to ensuring Germany's technological leadership and digital sovereignty.

As a Data Scientist (m/f/d) in Innovation Management, you will identify and analyze patterns, developments, and trends in the field of cybersecurity, prepare identified trends and innovation potentials using data visualization techniques, conduct scenario analyses and constructions, and develop data science projects. In this role, you will support the Head of Innovation and Knowledge Management.

Your tasks

  • Development and implementation of data science projects for the innovation and knowledge management of the Cyber ​​Agency
  • Conception, planning and execution of quantitative trend and scenario analyses
  • Preparation, presentation and analysis of results (e.g. in the form of trend radars, reports, etc.)
  • Programming, maintenance and further development of existing dashboards
  • Evaluation of the innovation potential of internal and external research ideas
  • Identification, analysis and evaluation of data sources from the national, European and international technology and innovation landscape to identify trends, patterns and signals.
  • Derivation of future forecasts based on data analysis, creation of action proposals for initiating projects and programs of the Cyber ​​Agency
  • Preparation of (presentation) results using data visualization techniques
  • Building and maintaining innovation ecosystems and networks in the field of data-driven foresight
  • Conception and development of tools and software for the automated evaluation of publicly accessible data (e.g. APIs, web crawling/scraping)
  • Development of an internal innovation management tool for the evaluation and documentation of identified trends and innovation potentials.
  • Continuous development of data science approaches to innovation management

We generally expect a willingness to quickly and independently familiarize oneself with new specialist areas and tasks.

Your profile

  • Completed university degree (Master's or Diploma) in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or another subject related to Data Science
  • Several years of relevant professional experience, e.g., in a technology company, startup, or research institute, e.g., in the development and application of statistical data analysis, machine learning algorithms, text mining, and natural language processing.
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, R, SQL) as well as practical experience in the development and implementation of data-based analyses.
  • Experience in the analysis of structured and unstructured data, web crawling, web scraping, and text mining.
  • Ability to communicate complex content to different target groups
  • High level of commitment, agility, conceptual competence and implementation strength appropriate to the special working environment
  • Independent, quality-conscious work and courage
  • Strong analytical and scientific skills, fluent German skills, and business-level fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Willingness to undertake national and international business trips
  • Sense of responsibility, team spirit, sensitivity and discretion in the daily work environment, knowledge of safety and confidentiality measures
  • Desirable qualifications include knowledge of technology and innovation trends, cybersecurity, and science and security policy.

  • Performance-based remuneration in accordance with the TVöD-Bund (Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federal Government), depending on qualifications and experience, with an annual gross salary between €67,000 and €85,000.
