About the department
The "Digital Office" department is looking for an "AI Platform Engineer (m/f/d)" to join our team at our Taufkirchen or Ulm location as soon as possible.
We are building an enterprise AI platform that enables the productive use of Large Language Models and other AI services within the company. For this purpose, we operate a GPU-based on-premises infrastructure on Kubernetes, which allows our internal teams to access scalable ML and AI services.
As an "AI Platform Engineer (m/f/d)," you will work on the technical foundation of this platform – from the infrastructure and model and LLM lifecycle to stable AI services for internal applications.
You will work closely with the Enterprise AI team and Portfolio AI stakeholders to translate strategic AI concepts into scalable, productive platform solutions.
The role focuses on platform engineering at the intersection of DevOps, MLOps, and LLMOps: you will connect build-and-run (CI/CD, IaC, Kubernetes operations), model lifecycle (training/pipelines, versioning, promotion), and LLM lifecycle (serving, guardrails, evaluation, monitoring) to create reliable, scalable, and securely operable services.
Your responsibilities include
: Building and further developing our AI platform on Kubernetes;
deploying and operating Large Language Models (LLMs) on GPU servers
; building and operating high-performance model serving and inference services;
establishing MLOps standards and operating and further developing the on-premise MLOps platform (e.g., ClearML, OpenShift);
building LLMOps workflows for production GenAI services (serving/runtime configuration, guardrails & policies, evaluation/regression testing, cost & quality monitoring);
containerizing and deploying AI services with Docker and Kubernetes;
scaling and optimizing GPU and CPU workloads;
developing stable AI APIs and services for internal applications
; setting up monitoring, logging, and observability for AI systems;
and automating infrastructure, platform, and model releases (CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code), including secure rollouts, rollbacks, and standardization. Deployments:
Analysis and optimization of performance, scalability, and stability.
Your profile:
Completed studies in business informatics, computer science, data science, or a comparable qualification.
Experience in building or operating cloud, platform, or infrastructure systems.
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and container technologies.
Experience with microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
Experience with MLOps/LLMOps (model/prompt lifecycle, serving, evaluation, monitoring) and production AI systems.
Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and operations/release processes is advantageous.
Experience with GPU workloads or high-performance systems is advantageous.
Structured, independent work style and a passion for operating and improving complex systems. Strong
communication and moderation skills when interacting with business units and IT.
Good German and English skills.
