Your mission:
You will support our transport team in building a comprehensive database (e.g., in Access) of all purchase prices per transport mode (rail/road) via German ports and help us to digitize and automate recurring tasks and data flows using modern IT solutions, Python, and AI-supported tools.
Your tasks:
Development of a comprehensive database for rail freight rates, enabling dispatchers, cost controllers, and pricing teams to quickly access the costs of all transport service providers.

Development of conversion logic (e.g., using Python) for the easy upload of service provider rates to our internal TERRA tariff tool (Transport Efficient Routing and Rates Application).
Development of automations and tools using Python, VBA (Excel), and Microsoft Access (forms, queries, basic SQL) to reduce manual work (e.g., tariff searches, status checks, exception logs).
Development and optimization of interactive dashboards and reports based on transport data, e.g., using Python (Pandas, Plotly/Dash) or comparable BI tools.
Exploration and application of AI-supported approaches (e.g., for data preparation, pattern recognition, or process automation) to increase efficiency in transport reporting.
Your profile:
Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program, ideally in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Informatics, Business Administration, Data Science, Maritime Management, or a comparable field.
Strong interest in data analysis, IT processes, automation, and maritime transport, port operations, or international logistics.
Excellent communication skills in German and English, both written and spoken.

Initial experience with dashboard tools or an interest in learning about reporting/BI solutions.
Enjoyment of working with operational data and a meticulous, detail-oriented, and structured work style.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability in a dynamic, digital logistics environment.
We offer you:
Direct insights into the day-to-day operations of transport processing through a clearly defined, data-driven IT project.

Hands-on experience in building modern reporting and automation solutions using Python and related technologies.
Varied and exciting tasks in a pleasant working environment.
An attractive workplace in the heart of Hamburg.
Diverse professional development opportunities via our e-learning platform.

The option to work remotely as part of our flexible work arrangement.
If we have sparked your interest and your qualifications match the requirements of the position, we look forward to receiving your complete application documents (cover letter and CV), including your earliest possible start date.
