Machine Learning Engineer (m/f/d)

As a Machine Learning Engineer (m/f/d), you will develop machine learning functions for our products, working step by step on concrete projects. MICOS develops ERP software for the social economy. As part of the innovation team, you will work with us early on to evaluate which ideas have potential.

Your mission:

• Development of machine learning models and integration of these as software into our products that users utilize.
• Ensuring maintainable, tested code while adhering to our software development standards.
• Early involvement in innovation projects with data potential, in order to examine existing data, assess the suitability of the problem for machine learning and formulate data-related assumptions.
• Verification of these assumptions using samples, simple baselines and feasibility tests, as well as an honest assessment if they do not hold up.
• Processing of data from different sources and documentation of their significance.
• Close coordination with our architecture to ensure that models can be seamlessly integrated into our products.
• Production readiness of models through testing, monitoring and documentation, as well as joint rollout with our software development into operation.
• Data protection compliant implementation and early coordination with data protection and security.

You bring the following:

You have experience in professional software development and enjoy writing clean, maintainable code. You also have experience in implementing machine learning models productively within a business environment. Furthermore, you possess the following:

• Data science expertise: Sound knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning, and the habit of validating models against simple baselines.
• Enjoyment of data processing and understanding data from different sources
• Strong communication skills in interactions with specialist and technical roles
• The ability to clearly explain and document models and their limitations.
• Basic understanding of data protection (GDPR)
• A desire to show results early and test assumptions, instead of optimizing in secret for a long time.
