a specialist (m/f/d) Data Scientist / Geoinformatics Specialist in the Climate Competence Center

(limited-term contract until 30.6.2029, suitable for full-time/part-time work, start date: as soon as possible, pay grade EG 10 TV-L - EG 11 TV-L pay scale)

Work location: LANUK Essen, Wallneyer Straße 6, 45133 Essen

Your task

  • Research, processing and input of data into geodatabases on the topics of climate protection, renewable energies, municipal heat planning and monitoring of the energy transition in North Rhine-Westphalia, including the further development of the geodatabases.
  • Evaluation, assessment and monitoring of the municipal heat plans received by LANUK
  • Preparation of relevant data for the energy atlas with a focus on data for the heat transition
  • Technical advice to municipalities and processing of data requests for municipal heat planning
  • Programming of automated data retrievals

Your profile:
Professional

Completed university degree (at least Bachelor's or FH diploma) in the fields of Data Science, Geography, Geoinformatics, Energy Technology, Industrial Engineering or a comparable field of study relevant to the main focus of activity or relevant professional experience.

The following are required:

  • Experience with database management systems (e.g. MySQL or PostgreSQL/GIS) and data processing Programming skills, e.g. Python, R, FME (exclusion criteria)

Advantageous

  • Knowledge of working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Professional experience in supporting and implementing IT or GIS projects Knowledge or professional experience in the field of energy

Classification is based on knowledge and professional experience. It is possible up to and including pay grade 11 TV-L.

The fixed-term contract is based on Section 14 of the Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act (TzBfG).
