Data Engineer (temporary position)

Tasks

  • You develop and operate data pipelines for network-relevant data – from measured values ​​to asset and event data.
  • You will integrate data from systems such as Enterprise Asset Management, Workforce Management, IoT devices, or control systems into our cloud-based platform.
  • You ensure data quality, consistency and timeliness and work closely with data owners and data stewards.
  • You support the technical implementation of use cases, e.g., optimized fault management, fault localization, or live monitoring.
  • You monitor and improve our data architecture (including Snowflake, Azure) and ensure the smooth operation of interfaces and data flows.
  • You work closely with specialist departments, IT teams and external partners, translating requirements into stable technical solutions.

Requirements

  • You have a master's degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, data engineering, data science, or a comparable technical field.
  • Professional experience in the energy, network or infrastructure sector – alternatively, a deep understanding of technical processes in similar industries.
  • You have very good knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT, SQL and Python.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Data Services) and distributed systems is a given for you.
  • You have a confident understanding of APIs, interface architectures and streaming technologies (e.g. MQTT).
  • You have an analytical mindset, a structured way of working, and high standards for data quality.
  • You enjoy working in a team and would describe yourself as having strong communication skills.

You are part of an interdisciplinary team in network operations and work at the interface between IT and business units. Your focus is on the Digital Twin Network, which serves as a central data and analytics platform, forming the basis for data-driven decisions in network operations.
Your immediate work environment includes the business units of network operations, particularly fault management, as well as IT teams, data owners, and external software partners. Together, you ensure that network operations-relevant data is available consistently, up-to-date, and of high quality, and can be used for operational and strategic use cases.
Your work makes a significant contribution to the further development of digital solutions, such as optimized fault management, fault localization, and live monitoring of network status. You translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and actively contribute to the establishment of data-driven processes in network operations.
