We are looking for you to join our Munich office as

Senior Data Engineer (m/f/d) - Development of Data and Data Integration Area

Your tasks:

  • They will take the lead in the strategic development and advancement of our operational and analytical data and data integration architecture.
  • They select and implement modern, cloud-enabled technologies and are responsible for consolidating our data systems.
  • They design and implement data pipelines for the integration, transformation, and provision of data from diverse sources.
  • Working closely with the Enterprise Architect and cross-functional teams (e.g., application development, IT operations, data science), you will create the foundation for data-driven decisions.
  • They provide support in implementing data governance policies and processes to ensure the highest data quality and consistency.
  • They identify and leverage optimization potential in the existing data landscape.
  • As a mentor and coach, you will pass on your knowledge to developers and junior data engineers and help us build up the data engineering department.
  • They act as competent consultants for our specialist departments in all matters relating to data.

Your profile:

  • A completed degree in computer science, data science or a comparable field
  • Several years of solid professional experience as a Data Engineer, ideally with a focus on data architecture and integration
  • Ideally, you already have experience in the insurance or finance industry.
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Kafka, Spark, Flink, Iceberg, and Data Lakehouse architectures.
  • Confident handling of relational and non-relational database systems and object storage
  • Good knowledge in the areas of data governance and data quality
  • Experience with open-source and cloud technologies
  • Practical knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
  • A highly developed analytical and structured way of thinking and working
  • They are strong communicators and can explain complex technical concepts in an understandable way.
  • Your German skills are fluent; English is an advantage.
