Data Engineer / Microsoft Fabric & Integration Engineer (m/f/d)

Job Description

Location: Germany (Jungingen, Hamburg | hybrid / remote) or Poland (Łódź | hybrid / remote) | Full-time | Permanent

Our central data platform doesn't exist yet. You're building it. This isn't a role where you take over and maintain an existing environment, but one where you start from scratch: architecture, pipelines, integrations, data quality. From the initial decision to ongoing operations.

What you build will be needed. Reporting, analytics, automation, and future AI use cases all rely on this platform. Your decisions regarding architecture, data models, and data quality will shape how RIDI works with data in the coming years.

This position is intentionally situated at the intersection of Digital Excellence and IT. You will work very closely with our IT colleagues, particularly regarding infrastructure, permissions, operations, and the integration of core systems. At RIDI, data platform and IT operations are not separate worlds, but rather two sides of the same coin. We are not looking for a pure BI developer or a pure low-code automation expert, but rather someone who can seamlessly connect data platform, integration, and operational implementation.

Your tasks:

Data platform and operation

  • Building, operating and further developing our data platform on Microsoft Fabric and Azure
  • Development of data pipelines with Python, SQL, Fabric Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2 and Notebooks / PySpark
  • Construction of lakehouse and warehouse structures according to established architectural patterns, for example bronze/silver/gold.
  • Modeling curated data products for reporting, analytics and Power BI Semantic Models
  • Implementation and monitoring of data quality rules within the framework of our TrueData initiative S

System integration

  • Integration of source systems such as ERP, CRM, DMS, PIM, production and Microsoft 365
  • API-based integration via REST, OAuth2/OIDC, webhooks or Microsoft Graph
  • Robust integration logic including logging, error handling, retry mechanisms and monitoring.

Your profile:

  • Excellent knowledge of Python and SQL
  • Experience with PySpark or comparable Spark-based processing frameworks
  • Experience in the design and operation of ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Experience in building a data platform from the ground up, not exclusively in operating an existing environment
  • Practical experience with cloud data platforms, ideally Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Services
  • Basic understanding of Lakehouse, Warehouse and data modeling approaches
  • Experience with Power BI Semantic Models or comparable reporting-related data models.
  • Experience with API integration, for example REST, authentication, pagination, error handling and logging
  • Confident use of Git and structured software development
  • Understanding of data quality, data validation, and monitoring
  • Basic knowledge of security and governance topics, for example roles, permissions, secrets, entry ID
  • A natural yet critical approach to modern AI tools in daily development work. You use them productively and examine their results, rather than adopting them without scrutiny.
  • The willingness to assume long-term responsibility for the platform
  • Independent, structured work style and enjoyment in learning about new topics

Languages:

  • Fluent German skills are required. You will clarify technical requirements directly with colleagues from sales, purchasing, and production.
  • Good English skills are required for internal collaboration in Digital Excellence, collaboration with our European branches, as well as for documentation, manufacturer contact and technical research.

Desirable:

  • Experience with ERP data structures, ideally Infor M3, SAP or comparable systems
  • Experience with event streaming, for example Azure Event Hubs, Kafka or Fabric Eventstreams
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Lineage, Data Catalog or Data Governance
  • Basic knowledge of Docker, Linux, or container-based development environments

We offer:

  • The opportunity to build a data platform from scratch, instead of managing decisions made by others.
  • A company in the midst of digital transformation, where your work becomes directly visible.
  • A work environment where modern AI tools are actively used and new technologies are tested.
  • A motivated team with flat hierarchies and short decision-making processes
  • Positions can be held in Germany (Jungingen, Hamburg, Berlin) or in Poland (Łódź), hybrid or remote with periodic on-site presence.
  • Weekly working time 39 hours, flextime and flexible working time models
  • Christmas and holiday pay
  • Subsidized company pension scheme and company bike leasing
  • Various events for employees
  • For placements in Poland, standard market rates apply, which are individually agreed upon depending on the contract model.
