In the project "Seed funding for the establishment of a (state) coordination office for the subsequent founding of a state initiative for research data management in Saxony-Anhalt," we are seeking a dedicated individual at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg's University Computing Centre to assume overall strategic coordination of the planned Saxony-Anhalt state initiative for research data management. The goal is to establish a coordinating core structure (including governance, strategy, network development, and a coordinated service portfolio (including IT support concepts)) for the subsequent development of the state initiative.
Your tasks:
Their task primarily involves the conception, overall strategy, and governance: developing a comprehensive strategic concept for the subsequent state initiative in collaboration with all participating universities, stakeholders, and statewide commissions and committees (including the IT Commission of the state's universities). This results in the following tasks in particular:
- Development and updating of the state-wide RDM strategy, taking into account national and international developments (including FAIR Data, Open Science, research infrastructures), with the involvement of all universities in Saxony-Anhalt.
- Development and strategic management of a nationwide network of RDM managers and experts at universities and research institutions
- Management of nationwide voting and decision-making processes as well as preparation of decision and information documents
- Taking on an interface function between science, university management, administration, research infrastructures and other relevant stakeholders and areas
- Conception of the nationwide service portfolio (including identification and prioritization of areas of action as well as strategic preparation of initial IT support structures)
- Development of concepts for sustainable consulting, qualification and support at the state level for scientists
- Observation and evaluation of technical/technological/legal/funding policy developments in research data management, as well as derivation of strategic consequences.
- Networking with national and international RDM initiatives/communities (including for connection to supra-regional structures)
- Planning and implementation of overarching events, workshops and networking formats, as well as target group-oriented communication of project goals.
- Participation in the planning/acquisition and strategic preparation of funding applications.
- Public relations and communication of goals, services and results
Your profile:
- Academic university degree (Master's, Diploma or equivalent), preferably in a field relevant to research data management, e.g.: Information Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Library and Information Science, Digital Humanities, Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences or Economics
- Relevant professional experience in research data management, research infrastructures, science management or in a comparable role
- Sound knowledge of current developments and challenges in research data management, especially in the context of FAIR Data, Open Science and research infrastructures
- Experience in the conception, coordination and strategic management of complex, cross-organizational projects
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills, as well as the ability to present complex issues in a way that is appropriate for the target audience, combined with very good communication and moderation skills.
- very good German and good English skills, both spoken and written.
- Willingness to undertake regular business trips (especially within Saxony-Anhalt; if necessary, nationwide)
