In the project "Seed funding for the establishment of a (state) coordination office for the subsequent founding of a state initiative for research data management in Saxony-Anhalt," we are seeking a dedicated individual at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg's University Computing Centre to support the overall strategic coordination of the planned Saxony-Anhalt state initiative for research data management. The goal is to establish a coordinating core structure (including governance, strategy, network development, and a coordinated service portfolio (including IT support concepts)) for the subsequent development of the state initiative.

Your tasks:

Their task consists in particular of providing operational support for the overall strategic coordination, such as network development, process and committee support, as well as creating and maintaining documents as a basis for decision-making and information.

As part of the support in the overall coordination in the area of ​​conception, overall strategy & governance:

• Support for nationwide FDM strategy work through research, summaries of inputs and the preparation of interim results.
• Assistance in the creation, preparation and maintenance of concepts for nationwide coordination and decision-making processes
• Support in connecting and maintaining a network of FDM managers and experts, as well as support in committee work.
• Interface support between science, university management, administration and relevant stakeholders
• Participation in the conception of the nationwide service portfolio, in particular through needs assessment, structuring and preliminary review of requirements as well as drafting.
• Support in developing concepts for consulting/qualification/support at the state level
• Monitoring and preparation of documents relating to technical/technological/legal/funding policy developments (including FAIR Data, Open Science, research infrastructures)

In the area of ​​networking, events & communication:

• Participation in networking with national and international RDM initiatives/communities
• Planning and organization of cross-departmental events, workshops and networking formats in the operational area
• Participation in the planning/organization of funding projects and the strategic preparation of applications (in particular material research and compilation of stakeholder inputs)
• Participation in public relations and communication of goals, services and results

Your profile:

• A university degree (at least a Bachelor's degree), preferably in a field relevant to research data management, e.g.: Information Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Library and Information Science, Digital Humanities, Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences or Economics
• Professional experience in research data management, research infrastructures, science management or in a comparable role is an advantage.
• Knowledge of current developments and challenges in research data management, especially in the context of FAIR Data, Open Science and research infrastructures
• Experience in the operational conception, coordination and strategic management of complex, cross-organizational projects
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills, as well as the ability to present complex issues in a way that is appropriate for the target audience, combined with very good communication and moderation skills.
• very good German and good English skills, both spoken and written.
• Willingness to undertake regular business trips (especially within Saxony-Anhalt; also nationwide if necessary)
