DevOps Platform Engineer CI/CD (m/f/d)

WHAT CONVINCES US

• Several years of hands-on experience as a Platform, DevOps or CI/CD Engineer in the setup and operation of CI/CD environments — experienced experts as well as strong engineers with development potential for service ownership are welcome.
• Deep GitLab expertise — pipeline design, runners, container registry, merge request workflows and administration of a GitLab instance as a developer platform.
• DevSecOps mindset and SSDLC know-how — experience with SAST, DAST, dependency and container scanning, secret detection, SBOM, image signing and policy enforcement, ideally integrated directly into CI pipelines (shift-left).
• Everything-as-Code approach — treat pipelines, runners and infrastructure as versioned and reviewable code (Terraform experience is an advantage).
• Experience with cloud-native delivery toolchains — containers, Kubernetes (ideally GKE), artifact management, Helm, and secure CI-to-cloud authentication (e.g., OIDC / Workload Identity Federation).
• Pragmatic Platform-as-a-Product mindset — focus on paved roads, developers as customers, and measurable added value for the software delivery flow.
• Interest in AI-powered functions in the software delivery toolchain with a balanced view of real added value and meaningful applications.
• Clear communication across engineering, security and external partners — conveying technical concepts in a way that is understandable to different target groups.
• Fluent English required; German or Romanian is a plus.

WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH US

• Ownership and further development of the central service: our new managed GitLab instance as the primary source code and CI/CD platform for all new developments at Müller.
• Building the foundation for our Everything-as-Code approach on the Google Cloud Platform: infrastructure, policies, pipelines and applications flow into production via GitLab.
• Design and provision of CI/CD building blocks: managed, pre-configured pipeline templates (Golden Paths) for build, test, scan, sign and deploy, so that teams can deliver software instead of maintaining YAML.
• Architecture and further development of our Secure Software Development Lifecycle: SAST, DAST, dependency and container scanning, SBOM, secret detection and image signing as automated pipeline standards.
• Contributing to key architectural decisions: Runner topology on GKE, secure CI-to-GCP authentication, and cost-effective build patterns.
• Evaluation and integration of AI-powered functions into our toolchain with real added value for developers — pragmatic and with clear governance.
• Promoting a cultural shift from Dev/Ops separation to DevOps teams with end-to-end responsibility — supported by a strong platform and clear interfaces.
• Close collaboration within the hybrid platform team in Bucharest and Ulm, as well as contributions to technical standards, code review culture, and architecture decision records.
