In the AI Department, you'll develop the cognitive abilities of our robots, enabling them to understand and react to the world around them. You'll work on the algorithms that make machines intelligent and adaptive – from object recognition and speech processing to decision-making in complex environments. Here, you'll be part of a team that pushes technological boundaries and collaborates closely with other departments such as software, hardware, and product management. Using state-of-the-art tools and methods from machine learning and AI, you'll work on projects that are directly reflected in our products. If you're passionate about making machines smarter and shaping the next level of human-machine interaction, the AI Department is the perfect place for you.
Riederich
At NEURA Robotics, cognitive robots don't simply execute commands. They perceive, think, plan over long time horizons, and act autonomously in the physical world. We are looking for an engineer to build the systems that make this possible: the agent harnesses, planning loops, and orchestration layers that transform a language model into a reliable, embodied agent.
Agent Architecture & Harness Design: You will design and build the central agent harness for our humanoid platform: the control loop, tool/skill interfaces, state and memory management, retries and guardrails that ensure reliable, long-running autonomous behavior.
Long-term planning & orchestration: You build systems that break down high-level human intentions into multi-stage plans, orchestrate skills and sub-agents, track execution status, recover from failures, and escalate to human oversight in case of high risk.
Conversational AI for embodied interaction: You design the real-time speech stack: STT LLM TTS pipeline with robust turn-taking logic, barge-in handling and addressee recognition, so that the robot recognizes when it is being addressed and responds naturally under real latency conditions.
Backend & Platform Engineering: You build the production backend behind the agent: well-designed APIs and interfaces, distributed services that connect sub-agents to the main agent, and edge-to-cloud deployment across the entire NEURA ecosystem.
Evaluation & Industrialization: You build evaluation harnesses and observability that measure whether agents actually perform tasks correctly, and bring promising prototypes to an industrialized, productive solution.
Cross-functional collaboration: You work closely with hardware/software teams and external partners to guide agentic capabilities from concept to a reliable end-to-end product.
A strong Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics or a related field, or equivalent depth demonstrated through completed work.
Proven experience in building productive agent systems with measurable impact: agents that plan, use tools, manage states and run reliably over long periods – not just single-turn prompting.
In-depth, practical experience with agent frameworks and orchestration such as LangGraph, AgentCore, MCP or custom orchestrators, as well as a clear sense of when an agent and when a deterministic workflow makes sense.
Professional backend engineering experience: production services, API and interface design, distributed architectures and microservices, clean code, testing and DevOps discipline.
Cloud and edge-to-cloud experience, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and deployment and serving of models and services in production.
