DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) - for clinical applications and cloud solutions

Within B. Braun Avitum AG, we are seeking a DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) for the Center of Excellence Active Medical Devices (CoE AMD) in the Research and Development department, to start as soon as possible . In this role, you will act as a link between software development, testing, architecture, and operations, creating the technical foundation for reliable software deliveries and strengthening the stability and operational reliability of our solutions through automation.

As part of the strategic initiative “B. Braun – The Next Decade”, the Smart Therapy Eco-System offers a variety of digital services and applications that add value to our customers’ medical products.

In the Digital Solutions program, we develop distributed client/server solutions for local server environments using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Docker, and Kafka. We rely on Jenkins and Azure DevOps to automate our software delivery processes. You will design and optimize build, test, release, and deployment processes, establish repeatable workflows, and contribute to building a scalable software factory for secure and maintainable product development.

Tasks and responsibilities

1. CI/CD, Build & Release Automation

• CI/CD Pipelines : Conception, setup, maintenance and optimization of pipelines in Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
• Build Automation : Automation of build, test, packaging and release processes for Java/Spring Boot and Angular applications.
• Release Management : Support for versioning, artifact management, deployment artifacts, and reproducible delivery states.
• Quality feedback : Integration of automated tests and technical quality gates into the development processes.

2. Platform, Containerization & Deployment

• Docker & Containers : Creation, maintenance and optimization of containerized applications and build environments.
• Local server environments : Support for deployment concepts for locally operated client/server applications.
• Microservices & Integration : Support for service-oriented architectures, REST interfaces and Kafka-based integration scenarios.
• Automation : Standardization of recurring infrastructure, configuration, and deployment tasks.

3. Monitoring, Logging & Operations Enablement

• Observability : Development and maintenance of logging, monitoring and alerting concepts for development, testing and operational environments.
• Stability : Analysis of technical malfunctions, support with root cause analysis, and improvement of reliability and performance.
• Operational capability : Participation in the design of backup, restore, patch, update and support-related operational processes.
• Collaboration : Close cooperation with Development, Test Engineering, SW Architects, Product Owners, Security and Operations as well as global IT.

Professional skills

• Completed studies in computer science, business informatics, software engineering or comparable qualification.
• Several years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Build & Release Engineer, Platform Engineer or in a comparable role.
• Excellent knowledge of Jenkins and/or Azure DevOps as well as Git-based development processes.
• Experience with Docker, container images, build environments and deployment automation.
• A good understanding of modern software development with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, REST APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of Maven/Gradle as well as build, versioning and artifact management.
• Experience with Linux systems, networks, certificates and basic security concepts.
• Knowledge of Kafka, monitoring/logging, infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform) or cloud/Kubernetes technologies is advantageous.
• Excellent German and English skills, both spoken and written.
