Schwarz Digits creates the technological foundation for digital decision-making freedom in Europe. As the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, we develop and manage the IT infrastructures for the retail divisions Lidl and Kaufland, as well as Schwarz Produktion and PreZero. At the same time, we operate as an independent provider in the external market, supporting companies throughout Europe in their digital transformation. We combine our core services in the areas of cloud computing, cybersecurity, data & AI, communication, and workspace. Contribute to digital decision-making freedom in Europe.
With us, you'll work at the intersection of agility and security: You'll benefit from fast decision-making processes, enjoy genuine creative freedom in your projects, and build upon the stable foundation of the Schwarz Group.

Your tasks

  • Build & Ship: You translate complex business requirements into high-performance backend logic. You build features that can withstand real-world loads.
  • Code Craftsmanship: "It works" isn't enough for you. Your code is clean, readable, and secured through unit and integration tests. You always leave the codebase cleaner than you found it.
  • Review Culture: For you, code reviews are not just a matter of rubber-stamping, but a technical dialogue. You give constructive feedback and demand it for your own work.
  • Debt Collector: You identify technical debt and actively reduce it. Refactoring and bug hunting are essential for maintaining a healthy application.
  • Agile Mindset: We work in a hybrid and agile way (Scrum). Your voice counts in refinements and retrospectives – we want solutions, not just order takers.

Your profile

  • Foundation: A degree in computer science, relevant training, or comparable in-depth practical experience in software development.
  • Backend expertise: Sound knowledge of the Java & Kotlin ecosystem (Spring Boot) as well as in the design of highly available microservices in distributed systems.
  • Search & Data: Experience with search technologies (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch or Solr) as well as in dealing with NoSQL (MongoDB) and caching solutions (Redis).
  • Cloud & DevOps: Confident handling of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Docker and Kubernetes, as well as a passion for automated GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Data-Driven Mindset: You optimize search performance based on metrics, A/B tests, and direct user feedback.
  • Quality & Tooling: Confident handling of IntelliJ and Maven, and the ambition to translate complex requirements into elegant clean code.
  • Communication: We work in an international environment – therefore you should be able to express yourself confidently and fluently in English.
